Accessibility & Ease of Access

At Beacon Hill, we are committed to providing a comfortable experience for all our guests. Curlew, Kestrel, and Merlin Cottages have been specifically designed with wheelchair users in mind.

Wheelchair-Friendly Features (Curlew, Kestrel & Merlin)

  • Seamless Entry: Each cottage is built on a single level with ramped access from a dedicated parking drop-off point, leading through a low-level threshold into a spacious tiled hallway.

  • Flexible Sleeping: All three bedrooms are large enough to allow for easy wheelchair-to-bed transfer. Guests have the choice of a single bed or a super-king double.

  • Accessible Bathrooms: The main bathroom features a roll-in shower and a WC designed for wheelchair positioning (appropriate grab rails are installed). We also provide a shower wheelchair and a bath seat free of charge upon request.

  • Scenic Design: To ensure everyone enjoys the landscape, the sitting room windows reach the floor, offering unobstructed views of the rolling Northumbrian fields.

Mobility Equipment

To help you explore the farm and beyond, we provide the following free of charge:

  • Vecta Sport Scooter

  • Lightweight Wheelchair (suitable for use both on and off-site)

Additional Single-Level Accommodations

If you prefer to avoid stairs, we offer several other properties on one level:

  • Ramped Access: Willow, Larch, Oak, and Elm Cottages.

  • Single Level (No Stairs): Quarry House, Stable Cottage, and Wood Cottage.

    • Note: Wood Cottage has two steps at the entrance, which may be a consideration for those with limited mobility.

The Spa

The Beacon Hill Spa is fully wheelchair accessible, ensuring all guests can enjoy our wellness facilities and stunning views.

Important Safety Note

For your safety, please be aware that the emergency fire exits for Wood Cottage, Stable Cottage, and the Hideaways are through low-level windows. If this exit method poses a difficulty for you, we recommend booking one of our other accessible properties instead.
